ABORIGINAL SELF IDENTIFICATION
The Near North District School Board will be sending home a brochure called Voluntary, Confidential Aboriginal Student Self Identification Policy. The word “Aboriginal” is a collective term which refers to all original people of North America including First Nations, Inuit and Metis. The data collected is secure and safe, and individual data is confidential. Information is shared with the Ministry of Education and reviewed by the Near North District School Board to aid in the process of resource allocation, the development and implementation of programming, and to support overall student achievement. We ask that students of Aboriginal Ancestry complete and return this form by May 22nd so that the Near North District School Board can use this valued data as we prepare for the 2012/2013 school year.
