Principal’s Welcome

On behalf of the staff at J.W. Trusler Public School I would like to welcome you and your family to our school. We will do all we can to ensure students have a successful and positive experience during this school year. Education is a partnership that includes all the staff at J.W. Trusler, pupils, parents/guardians, and our community organizations. Children learn best when parents/guardians support the work at the school. Support can come in many ways such as attending school functions, volunteering in the school, participating in parent-teacher interviews, talking to your children about their day at school, monitoring their homework, and ensuring that your children come to school well nourished, rested and ready to learn. Our school houses all grades from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6, and the Board-wide classes for Primary and Junior Communication Students (which are accessed by students from across the North Bay region). This handbook is a guide for students and parents. It contains general information and programs offered here at J.W. Trusler. We hope it will answer some of the questions you may have as we start a new school year. If you have any comments or additional questions, please contact the school at 472-5459, e-mail me at melnykta@nearnorthschools.ca, or drop in to see us. Please sign and return the page indicating that you have read and discussed this handbook with your child. Please also read, sign and return the Acceptable Use forms and the Consent to Photograph forms, to your child’s teacher. Thank you for choosing J.W. Trusler as your child’s school. It is our sincere hope that we can meet your child’s academic, emotional, social and physical needs not only through the expertise of our diverse staff but also through the various programs offered here at J.W. Trusler.

Sincerely, Tammy Melnyk, Principal
